On Becoming a Partner To the Self
Reclaim Your Inner Landscape
What if the relationship that most needs your attention is the one you have with yourself?
This book began with a question I have returned to throughout my personal and professional life: What does it mean to become a partner to ourselves?
We spend much of our lives learning how to interact with others - how to love, communicate, set boundaries, and repair in relationships. Yet we tend to give far less attention to the relationship we have with ourselves.
On Becoming a Partner to the Self is an invitation to turn toward that relationship with curiosity. It explores how we can come to know ourselves more fully, reclaim our inner landscape, and develop a way of relating to ourselves that makes room for accountability, agency, compassion, courage, and change.
Why Partnership with the Self?
We often think about partnership in relation to another person. We ask whether each person has a voice and feels heard. But what happens when we bring those same questions to the relationship we have with ourselves?
Partnership with the Self offers a different way of relating to ourselves. Rather than approaching ourselves primarily through judgment or trying to become someone different, we can learn to relate to ourselves with curiosity, honesty, compassion, and accountability.
Becoming a partner to yourself does not mean always agreeing with yourself or avoiding responsibility. It means learning to stay alongside yourself as you face difficult things, make choices, repair, and continue becoming.
The journey is still unfolding.
